Wine/1975 Bordeaux Cartier

I have a bottle of 1975 Cartier Bordeaux.   It says on the label that it is a Monsieur Henri Selection.  It also has on the label product of France .  I've had it for some time in my basement and was wondering if it has any value and if it does how much would it be?  Thanks, for you input.  George Lynn

Hi Charlotte/George,

Sorry but 1975 wasn't a great year in Bordeaux, although the high tannins typical of it have helped some of the top wines to age better than expected. They are all past their best by now though.

'Monsieur Henri Selection' is the brand name used by Pepsico for their wine operations that are known better for wide availabilty and low prices than for quality.

Your bottle would be impossible to sell lawfully and thus is worthless I'm afraid.

I have 40 year`s experience tasting, collecting and enjoying wines as an amateur enthusiast. Bordeaux and Port are my particular loves and I regularly buy and sell at auction. I have a good library and frequently participate in on-line discussions. I can only help with valuations, buying or selling if you tell me where you live as there are many variations around the world.

I would not feel confident answering questions on German wines or those of the USA, South Africa or Australia. But please check my prestige rating and browse "Browse Past Answers" at the top of this page to see if I'm the one you want to help on everything else! (PLEASE don't forget to tell me where you are if you want my estimation of value or help buying or selling!)

I also participate regularly on several other discussion groups.
