Question
Hi David
I am in Perth Western Australia
My grandmother has asked me if I knew anything about the following bottle of sherry that she has.
Pedroximenez solera No 23
On the bottom of the front label is 03835-6
On the rear label there is a stamped number A5 7301431
She has had it for about 25 years
Many thanks

Answer
Hi Andrew,

Pedro Ximenez is the grape used to produce the sweetest oloroso style of Sherry; in your case by blending in the solera system, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solera.

These are fairly rare and I don't know of another one at any Australian retaler so it might interest collectors and I suggest you contact Sterlings in Perth (http://www.sterlingwine.com.au/index.php) to ask what catalogue valuation they'd suggest for it as a potential auction entry.

Regards,

David

I have 40 year`s experience tasting, collecting and enjoying wines as an amateur enthusiast. Bordeaux and Port are my particular loves and I regularly buy and sell at auction. I have a good library and frequently participate in on-line discussions. I can only help with valuations, buying or selling if you tell me where you live as there are many variations around the world.

I would not feel confident answering questions on German wines or those of the USA, South Africa or Australia.
