I have 5 bottles of wine left in dark cupboard for a number of years and wish to find out if they are worth anything or indeed
if they are suitable for drinking. They are listed below:-

1998 White Bordeaux Lafite Barons de Rothschild Reserve Special

1988 Red Bordeaux Superior Chateau La Grand Tour (Christian Dumas)

1999 Red Premieres Cotes de Bordeaux

1990 Red Chateau Haut-Belloc Premieres Cotes de Blaye (P.Guillon)

1997 Red French World cup commenmoration bottle.

Thank you and look forward to hearing from you. Thanks again.

Hi Brenda,

I'm afraid there's nothing here that would excite bidders at a specialist wine auction but they should mostly still be enjoyable examples of their types and ready to drink.

I always have reservations though about commemorative bottlings as they are usually low-cost wines sold at high prices through skilful marketing and hype.

I have 40 year`s experience tasting, collecting and enjoying wines as an amateur enthusiast. Bordeaux and Port are my particular loves and I regularly buy and sell at auction. I have a good library and frequently participate in on-line discussions. I can only help with valuations, buying or selling if you tell me where you live as there are many variations around the world.

I would not feel confident answering questions on German wines or those of the USA, South Africa or Australia. But please check my prestige rating and browse "Browse Past Answers" at the top of this page to see if I'm the one you want to help on everything else! (PLEASE don't forget to tell me where you are if you want my estimation of value or help buying or selling!)

I also participate regularly on several other discussion groups.
