Wine/1970 Mestrezat-Preller Chateau Trapaud Bordeaux

I have 300 bottles of this 1970 Mestrezat-Preller Chateau Trapaud Bordeaux stored in a basement in France. I am just wondering what kind of value these might have, as I can't really find this company anymore.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Pong,

Ch Trapaud is a reputable St Emilion and 1970 was a fine vintage so these would have been a good buy, but these bottles may not have retained as much value as you may hope for several reasons:

a) They are now very old.
b) Bulk quantities always retain their value better if they are stored in unopened, original wooden cases (OWCs) in a temperature-controlled cellar.

I suggest you ask a French wine auctioneer if they would be interested in valuing these as potential sale lots, but some may not feel that the potential value reaches their minimum thresholds.

I'd start by asking if they'd help.

Good luck!

I have 40 year`s experience tasting, collecting and enjoying wines as an amateur enthusiast. Bordeaux and Port are my particular loves and I regularly buy and sell at auction. I have a good library and frequently participate in on-line discussions. I can only help with valuations, buying or selling if you tell me where you live as there are many variations around the world.

I would not feel confident answering questions on German wines or those of the USA, South Africa or Australia.
