Question
My boyfriend lives in Rockford, Illinois and I live in Racine, Wisconsin.  I want to visit him but I don't know which route to take.  I want to take a route that I will mostly be on the highway.  He takes I-94 to I-50 to I-43 to I-90 I think.  Is that the route I should take and is that all thats to it?  I just don't want to take all those roads that mapquest and yahoo tells you to take.

Answer
Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I was on vacation in Michigan for four days.

His route is really the best way, and simple! As long as you can get to Hwy 50, that will hook you right up with I-43 Southbound. It merges with I-90 Eastbound around Beloit. I-90 East goes straight into Rockford. Easy as can be!

As long as you go the right direction on the interstate ramps you'll be fine. Just remember, all even numbered interstates run East-West, so even on a map if it looks like it goes south, it's actually going to be marked east or west so think about it ahead of time and look at your map. Saves you that panic at the intersection! That was a good tip I learned years ago and it made my map reading easier.

I think you'll hit one toll between the state line and Rockford. If I recall it's $1.00.
