Women`s Health - cramps after period

Expert: Catherine Martin - 7/14/2006

Question
Hello,

I'm on the last few days of my period and I'm experiencing very mild and dull cramps (like the ones i feel right before my period).  Is this normal? I'm very anxious about my health, so I'm worried.  Thank you for your time.

Answer
lou;

cramping varys in degree from women to women.woman's body produces hormones known as prostaglandins to help the uterus contract and shed its lining. the uterus has to contract to create the menstrual flow,and many women experience the contractions as cramps.
but its normal to have cramping before/during/and after.
