I too was on lipitor and experienced weight gain and muscle pain...I work out every day and have not changed my eating habits...Since I stopped taking it, I've lost 4 of the 10 pounds.

I am 58 years old and have been taking lipitor for about 2 years. My doctor has recently increased my dosage to 40 mg per day from 20 mg because my HDL wasn't high enough, although the LDL was low enough. Over the past 2 years, and especially recently, my weight has been increasing gradually and my midriff has been expanding, so much so that my clothes are not fitting in the waist. This is happening with no change in activity as I exercise 5 days a week, and have been very conscious of low fat, high fiber food intake. I'm very sure Lipitor is the culprit, and plan to have a serious talk to my doctor about discontinuing the drug. She has told me I'm very lucky I am able to take the drug. I'm not so sure after reading about other people's experiences.
