Question I have bought a second hand sideboard in a medium oak colour. It has lots of scratches on it and a few chips.Do you think I will be able to repair it myself and if so, what should I use.
Answer Hi Joyce, that's a loaded question! It's extremely difficult for me to know if you have the capability to do this type of work, have you done any wood finishing before? Do you know what kind of wood your sideboard is? Is it solid, or veneer? One could use many different materials and techniques to repair something like this...but some of that will depend on your skill level and/or your ability to understand and learn new techniques. Some people have that ability, some don't. Can you post a picture of the sideboard? We'll need to establish it's approx. age, and therefore what finish is on it now. That will help determine the tact to take, as some finishes can be restored, some can't and will have to be stripped off and refinished. Hope that helps- post back- regards- Greg
