It's worth noting that Mahogany can, in fact, bleach out terribly when exposed to UV radiation, (the sun). While certain species resist this better, and solid wood better, furniture like tables and chests, with large surface area, will bleach terribly, to a bright yellow/straw color over a period of time. and typically not evenly overall. This can be reversed, but not without refinishing the piece. If a piece is kept away from windows and UV light, it will mellow and darken with age.
