Question
I have an old icecream maker from the 1950. It is held together with three metal rings. Well the wood is dry and the rings will not stay in place. How do you put the moisture back in the wood so the rings stay in place.

Answer
When something made from wood is allowed to shrink to this state, it's not possible to "put the moisture back". Even if you could swell it up again, it will shrink right back to where it is now, because the cells of the wood have collapsed due to age and being so dry for so long. If the Ice Cream maker is taper from top to bottom, you may be able to relocate the rings up a bit higher to tighten the staves.
