Woodworking/cane carving

I have a cane that looks exactly like this but with different carvings (or wood burnings) It needs refurbishing and have enjoyed fixing the button release and some minor cracks on the side.  I wish I knew where it came from.  

There are no markings on the steel blade, but it looks home made because of the imperfections in the  sword.
