Word Problems - Using a Quadratic Function in an Application

Question
If an object is propelled upward from ground level with an initial velocity of 48.6 feet per second, its height,"h", in feet, "t", seconds later is given by the equation
h=-16t^2 + 48.6t.  After how many seconds does the object hit the ground?

Answer
h = -16t^2 + 48.6 t

We need to solve this such that h=0.

0 = -16t^2 + 48.6 t
0 = t(-16t + 48.6)

t = {0, 48.6/16}

t = 0 is the beginning time and not the solution we are looking for.

t = 3.04 seconds

Let me know if I can help further.
