Question
two airplanes traveling in opposite direction leave the airport at the same time. if one plane averages 700 km/hr and the other averages 800 km/hr, how long will it take before they are 2500 km apart?

If they are going in opposite directions, we can think of the airport as the 0 point on a line.
This gives one the speed of +700 km/hr and the other a speed of -800 km/hr.
This means that the separation speed is 1500 km/hr.

Dividing 2500 by 1500 gives 5/3 s = 1 2/3 s.
In decimals, that is 1.67 s when rounded to two places past the decimal.
