# Word Problems/Fractions

Question
The homework question asks as following, "Which type of stores has the greatest number of stores?" Now I know that you can't see the graph, but all I want to know is how to compare fractions.

To compare fractions,
1. convert mixed numbers to improper fractions
For example, change 3½ to 7/2
2. give all the fractions a common denominator
Example: The least common denominator of ¼, ⅔, and ½ is 12.
¼ = 3/12
⅔ = 8/12
½ = 6/12
3. Compare the numerators
Using the previous example,
3/12 < 6/12 < 8/12
so ¼ < ½ < ⅔
