Question

There was an IT Fair. 2/9 were children. there were 4000 more adults from children. the ratio of boys to the number of girls was 3:5. the ratio of men to women was 3:1. find the number of all male visitors in the IT Fair.

x = number of attendees

"2/9 were children."
7/9 of the attendees were adults

"there were 4000 more adults than children"
(7/9)x = (2/9)x + 4000
x = 7,200

number of children = (2/9)x = 1,600
number of adults = 1,600+4,000 = 5,600

"the ratio of boys to girls was 3:5"
1,600÷(3+5) = 200
number of boys = 3×200 = 600

"the ratio of men to women was 3:1"
5,600÷(3+1) = 1,400
number of men = 3×1,400 = 4,200

number of males = 600+4,200 = 4,800
