Dear Ms.Janet, really need your help on the question appended below:-

1)Dharini has 1/7 as many stamps as paul. they have a total of 720 stamps. how many stamps should paul give dharini so that they have the same numbers of stamps?

2)francene baked 120 tarts, 4/5 of the tarts were chocolate tarts. the rest were strawberry tarts. she gave an equal number of chocolate and strawberry tarts away and had 7 times as many chocolate tarts as strawberry tarts left. how many tarts did she give away?

"Dharini has 1/7 as many stamps as Paul."

d = p/7

"they have a total of 720 stamps."

d + p = 720

substitute p/7 for d:

p/7 + p = 720

p = 630

d = p/7 = 90

Paul has 630 stamps; Dharina has 90 stamps.

If they have the same number of stamps, they each have 720/2 = 360 stamps.

630 - 360 = 270

Paul should give Dharina 270 stamps.

:::::

"Francene baked 120 tarts, 4/5 of the tarts were chocolate tarts. the rest were strawberry tarts."

4/5 of 120 = 96

There were 96 chocolate tarts, and 120-96 = 24 strawberry tarts.

"she gave an equal number of chocolate and strawberry tarts away and had 7 times as many chocolate tarts as strawberry tarts left."

96-x = 7(24-x)

96-x = 168-7x

6x = 72

x = 12

She gave away 12 chocolate tarts and 12 strawberry tarts, for a total of 24 tarts.
