# Word Problems/Maths Problem

Question
Ms.Janet, I just can't figure out. Can please assist the following:-

A van travelling at 60km/h left Town A for Town B at 7.00am. At 7.30am, a car left Town A for Town B. If the car travelled at an average speed of 80km/h, at what time would it catch up with the van?

The van travels for ½ an hour before the car starts.
½ hour × 60 km/hour = 30 km
The van has a 30 km head start.

The distance between the van and car decreases by 80-60 = 20 km/h.
30 km × h/(20 km) = 1.5 h
The car will catch up to the van in 1.5 hours, at 9:00
