Question
andrea's savings is 20% more than priscilla's savings. priscilla's savings is 10% more than celest's savings.if they have a total of \$1710 of savings, how much more does andrea saves have than celest?

Answer
a, p, and c are Andrea's, Priscilla's, and Celest's savings, respectively.

"priscilla's savings is 10% more than celest's savings."
p = 110% of c
= 1.10c

"andrea's savings is 20% more than priscilla's savings."
a = 120% of p
= 1.20p
= 1.20×1.10c
= 1.32c
Andrea's savings are 32% more than Celest's savings.

"they have a total of \$1710"
a + p + c = 1710
(1.32c) + (1.10c) + c = 1710
3.42c = 1710
c = \$500
32% of \$500 = 0.32×\$500 = \$160
Andrea has \$160 more in savings than Celest.
