How to Work Out Arguments With a Loved One/how can I forgive my mom?

Question
I lived on my own since I was 18, I am 21 now. my mom moved in with me because my ex boyfriend abused me.
she and I have been living together since august.

in September, she let my cats out.
My cats are my kids, and I have never ever ever let them outside.
they obviously have not come home, and I have been looking and looking.
but now there is tension in the house, I am severely depressed, and she says it isn't her fault.
she says if I let them out more often they would know how to come home.
I have had these 2 cats for 2 years, they've never been outside.
my grandma says I should forgive her and my grandma won't talk to me because I won't forgive my mom.
I don't know how to forgive my mom. my babies are gone and never coming back, and it's her fault.

I miss them so much.. :(

Answer
Hi Kayla,

People who don't keep pets can't fathom the love you have for your cats. Am sorry that you can't trace them but you got to go on with life now. Forgive you Mom and let her go back, telling her very clearly that you now no longer need a bodyguard. Don't make it look like you are angry but explain to her that you have a life which she cannot understand and it's best you part ways. Of course, do this only when you are safe and secure and have no threat from your boyfriend.

Then, gift yourself another pet -- you deserve to love a cat again.

Best of luck,

Vani
