Expert: Margot RN BScN GNC - 8/29/2009

Question
I recently took a job at a 8 unit building/ I pay half the rent and I get half off the rent.  It is in my contract to work 1.9 hours per day has not been like that at all.. I am leaving that job but was asked to stay until the end of the month..It is in a bad neighborhood, So last nite a drunk guy knocked my fence down and kicked my dog and punched me in the jaw!   Called my boss to tell her . I was hired to police the place and call cops for them>>>I know for a fact there is no workmans comp on the property...  He broke my dental plate and I had to glue back together.....   My last day is sunday this happened friday night

Cindy

Is this still considered on the job???

Cindy

Answer
Hi Cindy,

You need to talk to the Worker’s Comp division in your state and see what they recommend.  Not all states require all employers to carry WCB insurance, and if you weren’t covered I’m not sure what your options would be, but I’m sure they could at least point you towards some appropriate resources.

All my best,
Margot
