Question
I had a heart attack that started at work. I left work and drove home. I was actually half way home when I realized that the sickness, sweating, and tightness I was feeling in my chest was a heart attack. I was just informed that I should check into  workers compensation for this. The doctor said it was a genetic cause so I never gave the workers comp route a thought. Others say since it actually happened at work maybe I should file a claim. Now I don't know what to do. I live in Ohio. Thank you for any advice.

Answer
Hi Greg and thanks for writing,

You can always make a claim - it does seem non-work-related to me as well, but it may affect your medical leave pay. The Comp laws vary state to state, so I can't give advise on Ohio's specific regulations.

As I say, it doesn;t hurt to try and make a claim I guess, and maybe even consult a lawyer if you're serious about a Comp claim.

All my best,

Margot
