Subject: When can i file a claim?

Question
A Friend of mine was hurt ON the job in MN. Her hand was caught in a machine and her skin was basically sanded off and she had to go to the doctor while on the clock. The doctor told her She was going to be out of work for 4 to 5 days. she was actually off for 4 days and was able to return to work with RESTRICTIONS. When she inquired at her job about getting workmens comp, they told her that they would not file a claim cause she was only off for 3 days. she now has missed her wages for 4 days, and has medical bills due to the injury. My question is this: how many days do you have to be off of work due to an "at work" injury before you can actually file a claim? and who in MN would she call to start the process? It's obvoius that her employer is giving her the run around and doesnt care to help. She works for a Temp agency that is located in Wisconsin, but the JOB site is in Minnesota. Thanks in advance.

Answer
Well to start I would like to say I am familiar with UT. Each state is different in its laws and its rules. But I have never heard of a minimume amount of days off to file a claim. If your friends employeer wont show the rules and regulations to them then go to the state employment agency. Or the state web site http://www.doli.state.mn.us/workcomp.html
Ocording to the state site the claim should be filed as soon as possible. So I would start a complaint all you need do is file a complaint there is contact info on the site. Also all doctor bills are covered. I hope this helps and your friend gets the help they deserve.
