I hope you can help me. I am really eager to use my time and work space more effecietly. I would also like to maximize my work results. I am a college grad actively planning on going to med school, so I have a study schedule. I work out 4-5 times a week, but want to work out everyday. I cant manage to keep up with current events, my wall st journals are piling up because I cant read one everyday. I have other reading I want to complete outside of school and current events. I always feel like I have something to do, I would like to feel more relaxed. Finally when I try to prioritize, I have a hard figuring out what get most priority because everything seems important to me.
Please help.
Thanks,

Here is the Prioritize Technique from the Genius Handbook(TM). It should help you prioritize your efforts and get your most valuable work done.
Use technology to help; i.e., use tapes while you are excercising to listen to books you want to read.
Minimize effort on the low priority items, even though those may be of more interest. Work on them a little as rewards for finishing a high priority task.
Creatively yours,

Helping You Improve Your Products and Processes
Technique 1.0 Always Consider Local Conditions
Technique 2.0 Always Test The Constraints
15.05 PLANNING/PRIORITIZE
DESCRIPTION OR DEFINITION
A. Ranking elements to work on the most important ones first.
PROBLEM STRUCTURE
A. Problem has a large number of elements.
B. Many of the elements are important, maybe seem equally so, so you don't know what to do first.
C. If there is no decision on what to do first, nothing gets done.
D. If the decision is poor or random, low value work may be done instead of high value work.
SOLUTION METHODS
A. Define a criteria for rating the importance of each function
B. Apply the criteria to each function.
C. Select the functions having the highest criterion value(s) and work on those.
D. Minimize effort on the others, even though those may be of more interest. Use them as rewards for finishing the high priority tasks.
WHY METHOD WORKS
A. Prioritizing results in the largest payoff for your work
B. A person can not do everything they would like to do; prioritizing provides a decision criteria that focuses effort.
C. Prioritizing helps to get something useful done, instead of effort being frittered away piecemeal
RELATION TO OTHER METHODS
A. Focusing, Technique 9.01
B Sort or Order, Technique 1.02
C Concentration, Technique 1.03
PROBLEMS OF THE METHOD
A. Deciding on the criteria.
B. Avoiding the tendency to work on the problems of most interest instead of the high priority tasks.
EXAMPLES
A. First Things First
B. Criteria: What does my boss want done?
C. Criteria: What affects my salary most?
D. Criteria: Return on investment?
E. Criteria: Closest deadline?
