Writing Books/Agents

How hard is it to get an agent? I have gone through so much information on the web, I am not sure what to believe

Agents are as hard to hire in contract, as a publisher.

The agent has to want to get your book published and much as any publisher would want to publish it.

The agent has to believe in the book, and in you. He is not only marketing the book to publishers, he is marketing the author as well for future books that the publishing industry would want.
