Writing Books/Finding an Agent

Question
Hello,
I am planning on writing a book, it's real life, but fictional, and it's a novel, not a biography or anything. Could you give me some names and email addresses for literary agents that specialize in that field, and if not, could you suggest a book I could buy that'll help me?
Thanks

Answer
I don't have any specific agent recommendations, but there are several ways to get names.

1. If you subscribe to the free Absolute Write newsletter, you can get a free report about agents. The site is absolutewrite.com, and the newsletter signup is on top to the left. I'm not affiliated with them; I just like their newsletter which has articles about different kinds of writing.

2. The book Writers Market has a section on agents. The book comes out every year.

3. Literaryagents.org has agent information. I just found the site, but it seems to be helpful.

Good luck.
