Writing Books/Publishing

I am currently writing a factual book on spirituality, religeon and the laws of society by which we live. I estimate the book will be finished in 6 months and there is no doubt in my mind as to the quality of the book. I was wondering what the best process for publication would be. Do i need to consult with a solicitor, do i need to go to a reputable publicist, what laws are in place to stop a publicist telling me they were not interested in publicising my book and then publishing it under another name?
I apologise if these questions are elementary but i have no experience or knoledge of the process of publication but i know how good my lifes work is.
Kind Regards Simon Russell.

First you should look for agents and publishers for your book. You can find them in the book Writer's Market. Some publishers require you have an agent; some don't. You should look for agents/publishers who accept books on your subjects.

As for them stealing your book, that's unlikely. Good luck!
