Answer
Dear Josh,
Thank you for your questions. Go to my writer's page at
http://steamboats.com/writing.html
Look up the Fiction Writer's Workshop, which will tell you how to get organized and get started. I have an article on how to overcome writer's block that should offer some inspiration. There's also an article on how to find a publisher.
As for where to do research, you can use the Internet and libraries. Another important resource is to keep a journal where you write down your ideas. In fact, if you feel stuck when you start the Fiction Writer's Workshop, take an hour or two to write down all your ideas in a notebook. Don't worry about what you say, just set a timer and keep writing until you've downloaded all the thoughts in your head. Then set it aside.
Sometimes you have to clear out what's in your head before you can start to get organized. Getting your thougths onto paper can get you started, plus you can always refer back to your notebooks for inspiration.
I hope this helps, feel free to write back again.
Sincerely,
Nori
