Writing Books/How to get started writing a book

I am 38 years old and a stay at home wife and mom, so how would I get started writing a book?
How much experience do I need to write and publish a book?
Do I need to take classes in order to write a book?

Dear DeLinda,
Thank you for your questions. If you like to tell a good story, you can probably write a book. You don't have to take a class, but it does help with the writers block. When you're with other people who are writng, it's easier to get motivated. There are also some good online writing classes that are free. It's good practice to write all the time, as well as put your energy into a big project like a book. At my page for writers I have linked to some good writers sites:
You will also find my Fiction Writer's Workshop that will explain how to organize a story. It will help you set up your plot, characters, and scenes.
Getting published can be difficult, since writing is a competitive field, but everybody has to start somewhere. Check out my article called, "How to Find a Publisher," to see what's invovled.
I hope this helps. Best to you,
