Writing Books/writer's profit per book

How much from the price of the book goes to the writer of the book? Where else does the rest of the money go to?

That depends on the publisher. Some publishers pay a flat fee, and that's all the writer gets. Others pay an advance sum and then royalties from future sales. The royalty numbers vary. The book Writer's Market lists publishers that tell how much they pay writers in general including royalty rates.

I don't know exactly how the money is distributed. I assume the publishers get most of it to pay for their employees like publicists, editors, printers, etc.
