Subject: My Script
Question Barry-
We have written a script, action with a love story in the end, and are now in the process of producing a movie trailer to go along with this. We feel that this tool, along with a synopsis will all us to grab the attention of those in the room. My question is, where should I go from here? How can I get face time with the right people? Thanks.
Answer Hi Robert,
The best place to pitch is in Hollywood.
That costs money unless you live there, so you'll need a "war chest."
That is, airfares, accommodation, and meals.
Survey all the festivals, workshops and other do's in L.A. that invite people to pitch their projects.
If that doesn't appeal, I recommend you send query letters to producers who might be interested, and offer to send them a short detailed outline, and a DVD of the trailer.
What you're proposing is a lot of gruntwork, and it takes forever, which is why I don't do it. I usually produce my own scripts, with the help of other producers.
