Writing Plays/Screenwriting - Montage Sequence

Expert: Barry Pearson - 5/9/2009

Question
Hi Barry,
Could you please tell me how to format a montage sequence with a longer voiceover - my concern is if I break up the voiceover it won't have the same impact on reading. Many thanks.

Answer
Hi Katrina,

Nice to hear from Australia.

Put the montage first so the reader can picture the visuals, then
put in your dialogue, with the Character Name, thus:

                KATRINA (OVER THE MONTAGE)

To get a sample of montage format, e-mail me at createyourscreenplay@rogers.com

See the new edition of my formatting book HOLLYWOOD SCREENPLAY FORMATTING MADE EASY, at http://www.createyourscreenplay.com/

All the best,
Barry
