Question
Hi Don, Thank You For Taking The Time To Read My Question.

I am an 18 year old Art student and I have just written my first movie script. I spent several months writing it and everyone who has read it (friends, family and film teachers at my community college) so far has loved it.

But I have no qualifications or experience in film. Do I actually have a realistic chance of getting it produced by a studio If I go out and get a script agent?

Answer
Craig,

Your chances for getting your script produced
is just as good as anyone else's.  The key to
getting it produced requires multiple elements.
A key element is to make sure your script is
market ready.

Once that is accomplished, then
you can market your screenplay via "The Hollywood
Creative Directory" (select producers and production
companies that have made films similar to the
genre of your script).  The  directory lists names,
addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers, and
email addresses of producers and production
companies.  A well-written query letter can help
you accomplish this.

Once your script is market ready, you should also
set out to find an agent as well as a producer.  This
would work the same way as I explained above to
find a producer.

I hope this has been of help to you.

Take care and keep writing!

Best Regards,
