Question I have been blogging for three years now. I have a large audience and many of them often say they can see my blogs as a TV Show (sitcom). How would I pitch this to someone? And how do I know who to pitch it to?
Answer Hi Melissa,
On the internet, there is a site called Movie Pitch:
It contains a lot of information related to pitching ideas for movies and television.
You'll need a log line, a query letter, and at least a one-page summary. Even better to also have a sample episode. I don't want to hoist the firehose on your parade, but it's a fact that most sitcoms are created "in house" and are often designed by a senior showrunner with many sitcom credits. Not infrequently sitcoms are built around a comedy star, like a Seinfeld, Ellen DeGeneres, Mary Tyler Moore, etc.
If you're truly dedicated to the idea of turning your blog into a sitcom, you might consider purchasing a Hollywood Creative Directory, in which you could find contact information for all the companies that are significant sitcom producers, then you could target your queries to those companies.
Good Luck,
Barry
