Question I was just wondering if there is a difference in the structure or theory of writing a screen play for animation, opposed to live action. I know this might not be your field of expertise, but if you know I would greatly appreciate your responce.
Answer Hi Daniel!
I actually do know the answer to this question, as I have several friends in this line of work. The structure really isn't any different from animation to any other type of story. An animated comedy for television is remarkably similar in the initial script to a regular sitcom. The main differences I've noticed are that pacing for animation tends to be quicker and more action/visual-driven as opposed to dialogue-driven. It always depends on exactly what you're writing though.
If I were you, I would take some time to analyze some example shows from the genre you are hoping to work in, and see if you can find any scripts. I had a Billy and Mandy script for a while, but it appears to have gone missing...
If you can give me a more specific question, I may be of more help, but for now, just know that structure and general approach to animation is generally the same as anything else.
