Writing Plays/Screenwriting - Movie Idea

Expert: John M. Lovett - 6/6/2009

Question
I have an idea for a movie writer it is about terrorism and oil industry and how can i get the attention from a screen writer to adopt my story.

Answer
Desmond,

Allow me to ask you a question.  What if a neighbor comes to you and suggests that you build a swimming pool in your backyard on your own money?  If this pool is a hit with the neighbors, this neighbor is willing to let you swim in it.  Maybe.

The ideas that come to screenplay writers, novelists, short stories writers, or whatever normally come from their own imaginations.  Very seldom would these individuals buy ideas from someone else.

Sometimes, writers will discuss ideas with other writers but they would want a full story outlined.  That is, character backstory, plot points, mega scenes.  In other words, all the jargon and structure that goes into writing screenplays.

So, why not write it yourself?
