Question hi barry
i too am a high school drama teacher. instead of the usual play production, i would like to involve the students in a film production. the problem: i have no access to acceptable screenplays. could you put me in touch with chad or others to see if they have screenplays available for me to consider for a small royalty? we would not distribute the film except at the 'performance night' screenings. what do you suggest?
thanks.

Answer Hi Brent,
I think it's a good idea to involve your students in live theater or film production. The secret of success in these ventures is not to be too ambitious, especially first time out of the gate.
I do not have direct access to Chad's contact information, but maybe someone else may see this AllExpert's question and do a follow up with contact info.
You may find it more workable to have the class come up with scripts for a film. Making even a 5 or 10 minute film is demanding and time consuming if it is to be watchable.
You might consider grouping your class into, say, 8 groups of 4 students to each group, or some other combination that fits the numbers available. Have them borrow dad's handycam and each do a 2 or 3 minute film as a study that could be expanded into a longer version for the whole class to participate in making. That way they would get hands-on experience in the whole process of filmmaking.
Best of luck,
Barry
