Question
What is the choir that provides dramatic movie backgrounds? The songs without words, just dramatic chords that make mediocre scenes seem epic? Is it a style of music or a certain division of choirs?

Thanks!

Answer
What you are asking about are movie scores.  While the studios had for a long time in house orchestras and choral groups, these entities no longer exist.  Each scorer has to have his/her own core of workers.

To answer your question, each scorer (Hans Zimmer, Howard Shore, Trevor Jones, et al) have their own orchestras/choral groups they work with.  Some use local groups such as the Hollywood Orchestra.  Some use international groups such as the London Philharmonic.  The bottom line is whoever has the best price.

So, there is no single choir that does movie background music.  I would also suggest that the scorers (composers) steal alot of their form from classical music.
