Question The main characters of my screenplay are at the center of a huge media storm. I want to convey this intensity by using a picture-in-picture format for newscasts etc., but can't find any solid advice on how to format this and maintain, with clarity, that the main scene is continuing behind it. Any thoughts?
Answer Matt,
This will work:
INT. TV STUDIO - DAY
JACK WORDS, 50, a slick-haired anchor
spits words at the camera.
WORDS
President Obama declared that
conservatives need to reach out
to him.
MONTAGE
Senator John McCain.
Supreme Court Justice John Roberts.
WORDS (V.O.)
Former Colorado Governor Bill Owens
said that President Obama is spending
the United States into bankruptcy.
STILL
Bill Owens
BACK TO SCENE
Words flip a sheet of paper aside. His eyes
glisten at the camera.
WORDS
In other news today, former Alaskan
Governor Sarah Palin declared that
she saw two dogs having sex while
taking a shower.

I hope this is of help to you.
