Question Hi Barry, I've spent days combing the web looking for a finalized version of the script to Silent Hill, as written by Roger Avery. So far, I've only found an older version of the script that was dated October of 2004. That script contains a plothole completely different from the movie as it was when released. I've literally tried every script site within the first 30 pages under several differently worded searches. Do you have any idea where I might be able to find this script?
If the movie script isn't coming up in your string searches, it's probably because the authors don't want it out there on the Internet. Perhaps they are marketing it themselves, or perhaps there never was an "as produced" script available to the public. Often times copies of scripts are up on the net because one of the cast or crew scanned it and put it up. Sometimes the writers themselves put their scripts up in order to promote interest in their movie.
I think you're lucky to have found an older version. Movies go through a lot of revision on set and in the editing room, so the final product almost never is identical to the final shooting script.
Suggestion. If this is just for your own use and not to be used for profit, why don't you screen the movie in slow mo, stop and start on your computer and revise the part that doesn't match the theatrical release?
I hope you're able to either find or create a copy for you to read.
All the best,
Barry
