Writing Plays/Screenwriting - Resume Scene

Expert: Robert Hogan - 12/3/2003

Question
In my screen play I have a scene where the audience should see through the point of view of my character.  In the scene he gets knocked out.  He wakes up in a different scene, still being seen through his point of view.  The question is, when I want to quit using his point of view do I type 'resume scene' even though the scene has changed?

Answer
First of all, there are no hard and fast rules in screenwriting. Now to answer your question, do what makes sense. I see nothing wrong with writing the scene the way you have explained, so do it that way. Once the scene is finished, give it to six different people and see if they understand what you are going for. If they do you've got no problems, if they don't then it's back to the keyboard. Hope this helps.
