Writing Short Stories - Help Me

Expert: William Sternman - 7/16/2009

Question
Hello.I like to write short stories but I don't how to get them published or where to get them published. Can you help me?

Answer

My advice is keep on writing until you're sure your stories are worth publishing. Show them to someone you trust to tell you the truth.

When you are satisfied that your stories are worth publishing, start submitting them to appropriate markets. Use books like Writers Markets or find similar sites on the Internet. Don't expect your stories to be published in top magazines like "The New Yorker." Start modestly. If your stories finally get published in small magazines, you can start working your way up to bigger ones.
