Writing Short Stories/Science Fiction Story - "Immortal".

Dear Samantha

Can this be a Good Science Fiction Story - "Immortal" or "Never to die" where in the story mentioned that Human Beings are "Never to die" i.e. Immortal due to advanced medicine achievement. As a example Human Beings living for a maximum Life span of 130 years is extended to 1000 years similar to specific Trees / Plants.

In this science fiction story are shown the Consequences, effects if this happens in reality where Human beings species are never to die as a example "Population explosion", environmental effects etc.

Do you also feel a Good documentary film or movie or play can also be constructed on these story base ?.

Similar to the above fiction story base, are there already English movies produced ?.

Thanks & Regards,
Prashant S Akerkar

Dear Prashant S Akerkar,

Thank you for your question. I hope I can help.

In my opinion, any idea can be a good science fiction story, film, or play if it's well-written. That is the key. Anyone can come up with an idea, but it's the writing that makes it effective and real.

I don't know about English movies already made using the idea you outlined, but I did find a page that lists science fiction novels and stories that feature the idea of immortality:

It may help you to read some of these novels before you write your own story.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have further questions. Good luck!

I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Creative Writing (fiction). I have over 15 years of experience as an editor and writer in magazine, book, and online publishing. I also have five years of experience as a transcriptionist. I currently work as Senior Editor for Selene River Press, Inc.

I grew up on the Sisseton/Wahpeton Sioux Tribe Indian Reservation in Sisseton, South Dakota. After high school I attended college at Minnesota State University in Moorhead, MN. After receiving my BA in English, I stayed in MN for two years, working as a proofreader, a librarian assistant, and a print shop employee. I then moved to Colorado to attend Colorado State University. I was an Associate Editor for The Colorado Review and worked in a print shop while pursuing my master's degree. After I graduated, I got a part-time job in Colorado as an editor and writer for Cottonwood Press, a small publisher specializing in supplemental books for teachers of English and language arts. A year later, I got an additional part-time job as Assistant Editor at Style Media and Design. I worked there for five years until I moved to full-time employment at Cottonwood Press. In 2010, Cottonwood Press was sold, and that year I got several freelance gigs: editor for Demand Media and Larimer County Natural Resources, and transcription editor for 3Play Media and Automatic Sync Technologies. In 2013, I found freelance work as a transcriptionist for Selene River Press. A few months later, I was hired as their Managing Editor. In 2014, I became Senior Editor at Selene River Press, and that's where I currently work full-time.
