Question whats the secret of the black oil?
Answer even asfterthe show ended, the black oil is still essentially a mystery. in season 3, we first see it swimming over peoples eyes that have been infected, it is also learned how the virus jumps from person to person. Season 4 we learn that there is a cure for it. in the movie, the black oil became essentially the same as the "alien virus" and causes people to become hosts for the aliens to reproduce (this theme is continued into season 6). After season 6, the alien virus storyline kinda disappeared so they never really explained what really happened about the oil.
