Question is it itrue that a second movie is now in the makes?
i hadnt watched the series after season 7 nevertheless even then i wasnt watching regularly since season 3..partly coz i am from india and scheule was hard to keep up there plus couple of misses made it hard to understand the mythology plots after a while.i started watching the dvds in last 4 months and started understanding and appreciating the show.and why it was so popular and influential.my fave seasons were season 6 and 7 coz it was more lighthearted.
Answer Hi there. Glad you liked the show. A lot of people hated the 6 & 7th seasons because they were lighthearted, I liked them though!
As for the movie, since the show ended there have been talks about what's going on with the movie, and on the whole it looks promising with a few titbits of information, however it is yet to be greenlit by 20th Century Fox so it isn't actually in the makes yet. But here's what we know so far:
- The film will be a stand alone horror film (nothing to do with the alien conspiracy), and will take place in present day, returning to where the characters are now after the events of the finale. Watch the end of series 7 - 9 to understand all this.
- Chris Carter has done a deal with Twentieth Century Fox to write the script ( the story has already been written) but is currently suing the production company for syndication rights from the tv series. The film cannot go into production until the legal action is completed.
- Co writer Frank Spotnitz has done his deal, as has David Duchovny (who is anxious to do another movie) and Gillian Anderson (who just the other day said a quip about not doing another movie, but other than that she's been quite positive about it).
That's all we know for now. Apparently as soon as Carter finishes the lawsuit it will go into production. So there is hope. It will happen but might take a year or two.
Meanwhile go and buy the final boxsets!
