what r the drwabacks of becoming a doctor as opposed to a PA?
Answer Dear Gav,
It takes a lot of science courses to be accepted in a U.S. school
Island med schools will not help you.
About 25% of those who have appropriate qualifications get accepted.
MCAT contains lots of science and math.
Lots of science and math is a sine qua non.
I don't know what grade on MCAT is good enough.
Yes, lots of science and math are needed to practice medicine and to do well in med school.
Medicine is always rewarding and strenuous.
I don't know anything about island grads or what the educational requirements to get accepted in an island med school are. I don't think graduation from an island school will let you practice medicine in the U.S. or even get an internship in the U.S.
It is not easy to build a private practice.
Drop out rate in U.S. schools is very low, maybe 1%.
The drawback for you in becoming a doctor is I think you cannot get into a U.S. med school. I don't know about PA. Med school takes 4 years, PA about 2.
