AboutAdlai Jehosephat Expertise I can answer virtually any question about Weird Al Yankovic, but I would be most helpful in questions relating to his songwriting, lyrics, or information about his songs. But I could also answer questions about his early life, his albums, his music videos, his band, his concerts, pretty much anything.
Experience I've been a fan of Weird Al for about 7 years.
Question Is there another (new) album after Poodle Hat (2003) or is Weird Al in the process of making a new one or has he stopped writing songs all together (which I hope isn't the case).
Thanks!
Answer There is another new one! The brand new Weird Al Yankovic album is called Straight Outta Lynwood and comes out September 26th of this year. Personally, I am very excited.
They haven't released an official tracklist for the album yet, nor is there much information available about it, but I can tell you a few things:
A) The cover art and release date can be seen if you go to www.weirdal.com.
B) The album was originally supposed to contain a parody of James Blunt's "You're Beautiful." Al's version is called "You're Pitiful." However, although Blunt gave Al permission to do the parody, Atlantic Records interceded and prevented Al from releasing the parody on the new album. "You're Pitiful" is, however, available for download on the www.weirdal.com home page (right under where it says, "HEY! How would you like to download a brand new Weird Al song... for free?"). It also plays when you go to Al's new MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/weirdal.
C) Many tracks have been rumored to be on the new album, and some rumors have seen more confirmation than others. The album is likely to contain (1) a song called "White and Nerdy" that is a parody of Chamillionaire's "Ridin'"; (2) a parody of a Green Day song; (3) a polka including songs from R. Kelly's "Trapped in the Closet"; (4) a parody of Usher's "Yeah!"; (5) an original song called "Close But No Cigar" about a cat who is attracted to human females; (6) an original song called "Weasel Stomping Day"; and (7) a song that may or may not be a parody of "We Are the World" called "Don't Download This Song."
D) The album will be mixed in 5.1 digital surround sound and will be released on a DualDisc.
That's all I know. Stay tuned to www.weirdal.com for more official information.
