Question Hi, I was wondering about the Yesshows cd and if you think it is a good cd. I know most consider Yessongs to be their best live cd but I seem to be more interested in the marterial from 74-78 and was wondering if Yesshows would be a good representation? I was also sort of wondering your impressions about Tormato? It just didn't seem to nearly as good as their previous albums but I havn't heard Relayer or Tales... I used to have Tormato and thought it had some good parts to it but just couldn't totally sell myself on it. I figured there are so many better cds why am I trying so hard with this one. Somehow I think maybe they could have reworked it and it could have been a better album. It has some really shrill sounds...probably Wakemans use of the Birotron or whatever that thing was. Thanks!!
Answer Hi Lee,
Although Yessongs has the classic Yes music,I prefer Yesshows for sound quality. The sound of 'Don't kill the whale'is really clear and actually sounds beter than the studio version.
Tormato wasn't the most popular of Yes albums,it was recorded at a time when the band were going through an uncertain period in their line up.
If you get the chance to buy Relayer then do so if you can. It's a superb cd with of course Patrick Moraz on keyboards. Gates of Delirium has got to be one of my all time favourite Yes tracks.
