Yoga & Tai Chi - downward dog question

Expert: Daljit Kaur - 10/21/2008

Question
While doing Ashtanga yoga in downward dog position, how do I know how far to put my feet from my hands. I'm 6ft 165lbs and want to have a smooth transfer from downward dog to upward dog. I am using "Ashtanga Yoga beginners practice with Nicki Doane"

Answer
First practice upward dog and get an idea to place your palms on the floor beside your waist. Make a mental note, this should be your distance between your feet and hands while doing downward dog.

With few practices you will be able to fine tune your movements for doing sun salutation.

Hope this helps. I am sorry I missed out your question for early reply.

Hope you are having good yoga practice. Happy new year.

Daljit
