Awards and Honors Placed third in the "Kundalini Yoga Olympics" overall and won 3 out of 5 events. Note: Yoga is not about competition but this was a special event.
Sat Nam.
First of all I was wondering if you are the same as Gururattan Kaur Khalsa? or maybe you just share "Khalsa" in your name? I am asking because I have been reading the free lessons on kundaliniyoga.org by this person.
Anyway, I have always been very intersted in KY maybe for almost 10 years and I have been kind of on and off reading about it and doing physical exercises. Just recently (past couple of weeks) I started a very disciplined daily practice where I do physical postures, meditate and do pranayama.
I have a problem with a strict (traditional) controlling, intrusive father whom I live with as it is part of my society's culture to have to live with my parents until marriage, unfortunately. I am wondering if the practice of kundalini yoga can help relieve me of this problem? What do you think? Any ideas or tips?
I have been doing the Sa-ta-na-ma meditation for a week now, and the Sodarshan Chakra Kriya for the past two days. and silent meditation for around 2 weeks or so. As for something not very KY related (more buddhist) I meditate on the "Om mani padme hum" mantra daily for the past 2 months or so.
any insight? thanks so much in advance

My name is Gurubandhu Khalsa. I do know Gururattan though. She has a good site.
Kundalini Yoga will most likely not help your controlling father. It may help YOU deal with how you REACT and interact with him though. There is a mantra on CD that Yogi Bhajan said was good for father phobia. I would try that and see how it works for you. That is the only sure way to find out. It is called "Har nar wahe guru". I would look at www.ancienthealingways.com for the CD. Yogi Bhajan has said that it takes 40 days to make or break a habit so it would be good to do a meditation or kriya of your choosing for 40 days to see the result for yourself. Please let me now if that helps.
