Question
Dear Melinda,
I apologize if I am asking too many questions. But I know this is something you can help me with. My puppies are 5 weeks old, their ears were up for a brief time. Now they are down. Do they go up at a certain age? When and What do I need to do about this? Thank you.

Answer
Geralyn,

You will have to tape the ears if you want them to stay up.  Take a piece of scotch tape and place it around the back of the ear, about half way down.  Fold the ear together with the outer edges facing forward and connect the tape. The ears should be standing up after you do this.  The scotch tape will sometimes fall off and you will have to put it back on, but it is the best thing to use because it doesn't pull the hair on the puppy.  Do this for three to four days and then remove the tape.  If the ears do not stay up then repeat the process until they do.  If after two weeks they will still not stay up then they will probably never stay up.
